And the Panasonic GX1 in overall score
DxOMark is the image software company in France that provides us with objective tests for the Image Quality of various camera sensors. The results for Sony’s new RX100 are just in (or out), and I ran a quick comparison with a couple of other compact cameras. The Sony’s sensor beats the Nikon’s on all counts, and the bigger Micro 43rds sensor of the Panasonic GX1 on all but low light performance.
These results may not exactly reflect
real-life differences between cameras, but they are a fairly reliable guide to
technical Image qualitiy. A good friend has bought one of these RX100s and will lend it to me for a review after he returns from Africa. I look forward to that.
